10 Worst Superhero Movies According To Rotten Tomatoes
8. Batman & Robin
Batman & Robin also received an 11% rating, but given the number of reviews that were counted, it still ranks as being worse than Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. Is it worse? Honestly, it's hard to say, but this was a real low point for the Dark Knight, and a franchise killer that kept him off the big screen from 1997 right up to Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins in 2005.
Even if you could tolerate the cheesy tone the late Joel Schumacher introduced in Batman Forever, it was beyond the pale here. Everything from a Bat Credit Card to downright barmy performances from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Therman made this hard to endure, and it's amazing anyone involved managed to still have a career after it hit cinemas.
The Critics Consensus sums it up nicely, stating: "Joel Schumacher's tongue-in-cheek attitude hits an unbearable limit in Batman & Robin resulting in a frantic and mindless movie that's too jokey to care much for." There aren't really laughs to be had here either, because it never even manages to venture into the "so bad, it's good" territory.
This was just a disaster, pure and simple.
