10 Worst Superhero Movies According To Rotten Tomatoes

9. Superman IV: The Quest For Peace

Superman IV: The Quest For Peace has become a source of ridicule since its release in 1987, and is perhaps the most meme'd about movie in this entire list. At this point, the Man of Steel's best days were already behind him on the big screen, and this was the final nail in the coffin.

In fact, it wasn't until 2006's Superman Returns that the hero finally escaped limbo, and the decision to ignore this fourth instalment and pick up where the earlier movies left off... well, that just resulted in another disappointment (proving that fans had moved on from this iteration of the character).

"The Superman series bottoms out here," reads the Critics Consensus, "the action is boring, the special effects look cheaper, and none of the actors appear interested in where the plot's going."

Superman IV: The Quest For Peace really did look like it had been made on the cheap, and efforts by the editing department to make it somewhat coherent just meant this 11% rated flop truly soured Christopher Reeve's legacy as the iconic DC Comics superhero.
