10 Worst Superhero Movies Of The 2010s
5. Suicide Squad (2016)
The hype behind this film was amazing! Everyone was raving about the trailers, they said the film looked unique and more grounded than the previous DCEU entries. And when it came out everyone was raving about how good it was!
Then everyone sobered up and realised it’s yet another attempt to cash in on Marvel’s success.
Remember what I said about Justice League and audiences not caring about characters we don’t know? This film turns that dial to 11, as none of these characters are established within the universe (at least Justice League had 3 names we knew) with some being last minute tag-ons and others being unceremoniously killed off in short order.
The film had a very tumultuous production with over $20 million worth of reshoots to give the film a lighter tone after the previous DC film failed with its dark visuals (trust me, that’s coming), and Jared Leto’s Joker being all but removed from the film, save for a select few moments, which can only be a good thing because less said about Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime the better.
The film ended up being an overly long, comically edgy mess of a film, aiming to bring in both the goth crowds and the folks who enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy. Speaking of which, good luck to James Gunn for the sequel!
