10 Worst Superhero Movies Of The 21st Century

7. Daredevil (2003)

Ghost Rider Spirit Of Vengeance
20th Century Fox

In similar circumstances to Spider-Man 3, Daredevil had so much potential to be a good film, yet managed to blow it in exceptional fashion. Cast member, Ben Affleck, has commented in interviews on how much of a negative impact Daredevil had on his career following its release.

One of the darker additions to the Marvel universe, Daredevil is a lawyer by the name of Matt Murdoch (Ben Affleck) who was blinded by radioactive waste. His natural reaction to this of course was to become a superhero and take on the villain team of Kingpin (Michael Clarke Duncan) and Bullseye (Colin Farrell). Despite the lack of reasoning behind this, Daredevil is also joined by the debut appearance of Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner in her first major Hollywood role.

The foundations for this film and its story were cast in gold, almost certain to succeed thanks to the talented cast and its engaging comic book inspiration. Yet, the film was plagued by dingy screenplay, a general lack of motivation and purpose, as well as an extremely poorly executed lead role from Affleck as Daredevil.

Singling out Affleck as the main reason for its failure is extremely unfair however, as every character except from Colin Farrell’s Bullseye was dull, clanky and robotically delivered thanks to the vacuum of direction from behind the cameras.
