10 Worst Superhero Movies Of The 21st Century
4. Fantastic Four (2015)
It takes a lot to kill a Marvel based franchise, but the 2015 remake of Fantastic Four managed exactly that. Despite a strong casting line-up of names such as Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Tim Blake Nelson, the high budget reboot of the misfit superhero clan bombed on a monumental scale.
Also, the big name casting wasn’t entirely appropriate, especially when you consider 5’7” Jamie Bell got cast to play Thing. Fantastic Four earned $167million, which may sound like a lot, but including marketing it cost $155million to make.
A profit as marginal as this for a modern Marvel film is practically unheard of and reflects the poor quality of this rushed, sketchy final product. There are few, if any, positives to highlight from this film. There is nothing unique or original about this film's generic, plain and lazily executed plot.
Good guys get powers, they use teamwork to beat the super-evil bad guy, the end. This unmissable lack of originality is one of the main reasons this filmed bombed. That along with the horrendous and apparently unfinished special effects. The visual effects used on Dr Doom make him look slightly goofy, probably not the kind of reception the film studio was aiming for when they designed this psychotic menace.
On top of this, the disproportionate take on Thing’s body makes him look absolutely ridiculous. The rushed churning out of this poor film represents the importance of giving post-production time to make sure your film looks good, or at least not like an undergraduate college film.
