10 Worst Things About Being A Movie Fan In 2016
5. Studios Are Still Trying To Push 3D
3D has been pushed by film studios and film-makers on multiple occasions throughout the history of cinema, an attempt to offer cinema goers a fresher, more exciting experience (and to charge more for tickets, therefore reeling in more profits). The beginning of the modern 3D era began with James Cameron's 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar.
In the years that followed, 3D was absolutely huge, with the vast majority of studios offering 3D versions of their films. This led to a lot of post-conversation, the process of making films that weren't shot with 3D in mind accommodate the format. Yet as this trend rose, audience satisfaction with 3D plummeted, as many complained it was distracting, or made movies too dark, or simply wasn't worth the money.
Yet even now, in 2016, despite the fact that many, many movie fans actively avoid 3D versions of films, they're still being pushed by studios. Most of 2016's biggest films could be seen in 3D, including Captain America: Civil War, Zootopia, X-Men: Apocalypse, Warcraft, Finding Dory, Star Trek Beyond...the list goes on and on.
This means that before going to see a big blockbuster you've got to check you're not going to a 3D showing. It's an extra bit of unnecessary hassle, and when times are inevitably muddled and you show up to the wrong screening, it means paying more for a pair of 3D glasses (this happens way too often).
