10 Worst Things Disney Heroes Have Done
6. Kenai Kills The Mother Bear - Brother Bear
Brother Bear is certainly one of the most unique movies Disney have ever released.
Set in Alaska after the ice age we follow Kenai, a young, brash member of a tribe that worships animals, believing that everything is created by the Great Spirits and everyone has a designated spirit animal that represents them as a person.
Kenai, the youngest of three brothers, often shirks his responsibilities. After rejecting his totem of the Bear of Love, claiming that bears are thieves, he believes himself to be justified after a mother bear steals a basket of salmon.
In fact, the bear simply took the salmon that Kenai did not bother to tie up in the tree out of reach. It is Kenai's laziness that leads to the events of the movie.
From here, Kenai and his brothers, Stika and Denahi, hunt down the bear to retrieve the salmon.
A fight atop a glacier proves fatal, with Stika sacrificing himself to save his brothers.
Kenai blames the bear for his brother's death, hunting down the creature and killing it in cold blood. As a result of this killing, the Great Spirits transform him into a bear himself.
To think that the unnecessary deaths of Stika and the mother bear could have been avoided if Kenai had tended to his responsibilities.
