10 Worst Things Superman Has Ever Done In The Films
3. Fighting Batman
The lack of coherent communication between two people essentially on the same side is baffling in Batman vs. Superman.
Batman's worry that Superman has the potential to wipe out the entire human race is what drives him into a fight with Superman, whilst blinded by anger over the destruction of Metropolis. The issues with Batman not being objective aside, when he is supposed to be one of the smartest and most measured men on Earth, the problem here is that the pair don't sit down and talk it over.
The haphazard attempts by Superman to make Batman listen, when Batman is engaging him, just isn't enough. If Superman had refused to fight against Batman at all, it might have sent the message to Batman that Superman wasn't the threat he thought he was.
But no. For some reason, Superman fully engaged Batman and lost, leading to the infamous 'Martha' scene and the death of Kal-El. It was a terrible thing to do on Superman's behalf, simply because there were so many better alternatives to fighting.
The issues with the film itself are mind-boggling, as the two heroes are narratively forced to have a fight by Lex Luthor - whose plan makes little to no sense. The Ultimate Edition does have a sense of redemption, but the convoluted schemes and reasoning are still entirely confusing.
