10 Worst Things Superman Has Ever Done In The Films
4. Killing Zod
The point of Snyder's films were to take Superman on a journey and only have him become the Superman that the pop culture lexicon defines as such at the end of Justice League.
This means that everything up until Clark's resurrection in Justice League was a part of a learning curve, and the debate will rage on over just how misguided Snyder was on this issue to drag it out over three films or not.
However, going back to watch Man Of Steel, Superman's execution of Zod still feels like what was supposed to be a lesson to Kal about not being able to save everybody, ended up being another piece of gratuitous violence for the sake of collateral damage.
In Superman II, both versions of the film have Superman use his mind to defeat Zod, trapping him and his cohorts inside the Fortress of Solitude once they have done so. Donner's version even has Superman reverse time (again) so that the trio return to the phantom zone.
Snyder's love of violent spectacle sent entirely the wrong message about Superman to a whole generation of young people that might is right, which is hard to overlook when remembering many younger people wouldn't have ever seen a Superman film in the cinema before.
That is why it's is one of the worst things that Superman has ever done - because Superman is supposed to be better than that.
