If you smell what sci-fi film Dwayne Johnson is in...

Having just said not many wrestlers reach the acting heights of Dave Bautista, we move onto someone who's done just that and more, 'The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment' Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Not only the most successful actor to originate from the wrestling industry, The Rock has become one of the biggest names in the movie world. Despite his lengthy achievements and dominance inside the ring, not many would have predicted the level of success 'The Brahma Bull' sits on 21 years into his Hollywood venture, across which we've been treated to some Rocky sci-fi classics.

His first role in The Mummy Returns didn't exactly stand him out as an acting powerhouse, but it gave him a start in the popular genre. Playing the Scorpion King in the 2001 sci-fi & fantasy release, as well as in the character's own film a year later, The Rock showed he had the abilities to transcend beyond sports entertainment.

With some comedy and action releases in between, Johnson's next adventure in the world of science fiction saw him feature in the loose movie adaptation of the Doom game series. Given his success now he would probably acknowledge this film was somewhat lacking (it was dreadful...), but along with others, it certainly gave him the experience to develop into the actor we're used to seeing today in acclaimed releases like the modern iterations of Jumanji.

With a leading part in the alien/superpower antics we saw in 2006's The Race to Witch Mountain, and a voice acting role in the animated Planet 51, The Rock has racked up quite the list of sci-fi involvements and while we probably prefer seeing some Rock Bottoms to his early acting, Johnson has featured in some fun titles in the genre.
