9. Rian Johnson

This guy is very picky and thorough with the projects he approaches. Much like Andrew Kevin Walker, Rian Johnson shoots for realism. Even his time-travel film, Looper, was helmed as if it were more science-fact than science-fiction. Where Johnson differs from Walker is that he never misses a beat when it comes to the witty dialogue. It is something that could potentially be of great use when approaching characters like Flash and Green Lantern. Sure, David Goyer attempts to sneak some wit in from time to time, but he often ends up falling flat, or creating those unintentionally awkward moments that were sprinkled throughout the Dark Knight trilogy (and don't get me started with Ghost Rider). What would be most interesting for me, though, would be the marriage of science-fiction and realism. It's what is most appealing to me about the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. I always wanted to see the moment Batman first meets a "God." It's that kind of story that was eased into with the aforementioned Looper. It had a mystery, action, and a touch of the science. I'd love to see him take it a step further and enter the world of super powers and aliens.
