5. The New King Is Inducted
Eggers wasted no time in getting to the weird parts of the film. Before they get to the Tree Of Kings, Amleth and his father practice the coming of age ritual in front of a practically naked Heimir. The ritual requires the young prince to act like a dog as Heimir questions whether he is ready to become a fully grown dog or remain a pup.
Following his father, as he drinks water out of a bowl with his tongue and burps, Amleth does the same but decides to fart instead of burp at the end, strangely making his father proud and somehow confirming that he would make a good king.
It's hard to pick a moment that takes the WTF cake in this scene. The scene depicts three men dressed in barely anything as they chant around a fire and walk around on all fours to break it down. Two men stop to drink water and display their pride in their roots via flatulence as another man, who is featured as the jester earlier in the film, watches on.
