Quite possibly the worst decision ever made in regards to a character in the X-Men movie franchise, Wolverine's first solo movie introduced fan favorite Deadpool into the mix, before completely butchering the fourth wall-breaking mercenary to an almost unrecognizable degree. Ryan Reynolds was perfectly cast as the fast-talking and cocky Wade Wilson, capturing the flippant nature of the character while also proving capable at the action sequences. After too little screentime Deadpool is killed off, only to return in time for the movie's climactic showdown as the unrecognizable Weapon XI. It seems that the creative team decided that Wolverine needed to face off against a villain equipped with numerous superpowers, and as a result made the incredibly stupid decision to have one of comic book's most charismatic and hilarious characters sport blades for hands and have his mouth sewn shut. In response to the positive reception that Reynolds' take on the character of had received before the movie ruined it, a spin-off was announced way back in 2011. After what seemed like an eternity stuck in development hell, Deadpool was officially announced last year after the fantastic test footage was leaked online. Now set for release in February 2016, here's hoping that Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller can finally do justice to the 'Merc with a Mouth'.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
