This epic crossover, meanwhile, came only a couple of years ago, and is a damn sight better than that Onslaught escapade ever managed. It still wasn't very good, it was just better. Although it did lead to some rather intriguing changes to the X-Men status quo that last to this day, and could make for some neat movie material. Avengers Vs X-Men starts because the Phoenix the cosmic fiery psychic force that has bonded with Jean Grey multiple times, usually turning her mad with power turns up, and the Avengers wanna keep the mutants most likely to be a host to it away from such a corrupting influence. It winds up being a DON'T MESS IN MUTANT BUSINESS deal, with the fighting fairly standard. The ending, meanwhile, saw Cyclops accidentally killing Professor X, then starting his own radical breakaway group of X-Men. And you'll not see it until Marvel and Fox work out a Spider-Man-like right agreement...
