100 Most Disappointing Films Of All Time

62. Bruno (2009)

Film Title: Brüno On 'Da Ali G Show,' Bruno the gay Austrian TV presenter was hilarious. Subtle and witty, he was one of the highlights of the show. However, he was injected with extra camp for his big screen debut and what was funny on the TV, was incredibly dire in the cinema. With a plot that was a rehash of Borat, Sacha Baron Cohen attempted to satire elements of unsuspecting American culture but it just wasn't very funny. Perhaps if the character had been left as he was on TV, he might have worked better but all Cohen did by making him a stereotypical queen was to offend parts of the gay community and bore cinema goers. Here is a much funnier Bruno on the 'Da Ali G Show' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LazrAzBP_0I

61. Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)

Exorcist writer and producer William Peter Blatty and director William Friedkin both had no desire to make a sequel to their groundbreaking horror film that sent the world running into the nearest church. But the studio wanted to and the original plan was to make use of unused footage from the first film and string a low budget sequel out of it. But somewhere down the line, the decision was made to make a proper film with Linda Blair reprising her role as Regan and John Boorman directing. But unlike the first film that had audiences trembling, Exorcist II had people bursting out in laughter. William Peter Blatty was one of them who said;
"You'd think we were watching The Producers"
When William Friedkin was shown an advanced preview, his thoughts were;
''I looked at half an hour of it and I thought it was as bad as seeing a traffic accident in the street.''
But it did have an awesome soundtrack by Ennio Morricone.

60. Terminator Salvation (2009)

cg_schwarzenegger_terminator_salvation Terminator 3 was a total let down and was a pointless sequel that didn't add anything of great importance to further the story. Very much a sequel for the sake of making a sequel and nothing more. Terminator Salvation moved the timeline further into the future with a grown up John Connor played by everyone's favorite miserable sod, Christian Bale. We were led to believe that we would see the war between the resistance and the machines as hinted in the flashbacks in the first two films. Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle director Joseph McGinty Nichol, better known as McG, was at the helm. Unfortunately, the writers and director didn't give us the film we wanted, instead we got the ever-dull Sam Worthingthon become the focus as a death row prisoner Marcus Wright who is ''resurrected'' after having signed his body over to be experimented with. What follows is a plod where Wright tries to figure out what's going on and the location of the resistance movement. On the way he meets Kyle Reese played by Anton Yelchin who is the one of the few good things in the film. You might be wondering where John Connor is, don't worry, he is in the film but more of a background character who growls and sneers his way to find his place. Bale's performance is so pedestrian, you wonder why he was getting so angry at director of photography Shane Hurlbut in the now famous leaked tape showing that as well as being over rated, Bale is also an asshole. Dull action, poor script, crap acting and considering this was a war, not enough Terminators. Terminator Salvation was a flop in the eyes of the critics. It also lacked the Schwarzenegger factor, his 1984 face did turn up in the film in CGI form and raised the excitement level a bit, but it wasn't enough. Speaking of Schwarzenegger, after initially saying it was a good film, he revised his thoughts and had this to say;
''It was awful. It tried hard, not that they didn't try, the acting and everything. It missed the boat."

59. Staying Alive (1983)

staying-alive-1983-04-g John Travolta may not have returned for the Grease sequel but he did for the follow up to Saturday Night Fever. Written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, Staying Alive had none of the grittiness or explosive dance routines that made the first film so popular. Instead, Travolta's character is even more of an asshole and we are treated to lovely close ups of his crotch. The film was a success at the box office but unlike the original, not many people remember it.

58. Southland Tales (2006)

southland-flag Richard Kelly made an impact with emos everywhere with his debut, Donnie Darko and expectations where high for this follow up film, Southland Tales. Starring The Rock and Seann William Scott, Kelly sent a rough cut to the judging panel for the 2006 Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. They loved it and said that he should enter it into the competition. Kelly did although it was still unfinished and with a running time of nearly three hours. Unfortunately, the film was panned by almost all who saw it and the running time didn't help. But even when it got its general release, the reviews were not any better. It made just short of $375,000 at the box office, no where near the film's budget of $15€“17 million.
