100 Most Disappointing Films Of All Time

57. Blade Trinity (2004)

blade-trinity-4fec4fceebf6b The first two Blade films are awesome, unfortunately they messed it up with the third one. David S. Goyer, writer of the Blade trilogy jumped into the director's chair for this one and failed spectacularly. The story seemed like a mish-mash of the other two and Blade was give two sidekicks in the form of Ryan Reynolds and the ever dull Jessica Biel. It was an unnecessary step that meant that there were too many characters fighting for screen time. It prompted both Wesley Snipes to sue New Line Cinema as he felt the film bombed because of their decision making that he was intentionally left out of, even though he was the film's producer. Just watch the first two and ignore this one.

56. Dark Shadows (2012)

johnny-depp-dark-shadows-movie-image-2 The Tim Burton and Johnny Depp roadshow continued into 2012 with a movie version of 60s TV show Dark Shadows. Depp plays Barnabas Collins who awakens 200 years in the future after being imprisoned in his coffin and finds his mansion has been taken over by his eccentric descendants. The story is pure Tim Burton but it has got to a point where when you see Burton, Depp and Helena Bonham Carter as the marquee names for a new film, no matter what the plot it does make your eyes roll because that combination has not had the best track record for making decent films. Dark Shadows didn't change that trend and was greeted with average reviews. Burton's style was praised but the plot and script was lackluster. Where once Burton's style was exciting, it now is beginning to look tired and please, no more collaborations with Johnny Depp!

55. Cloverfield (2008)

Cloverfield-horror-movies-8550880-1280-720 Hipster's favorite director JJ Abrams produced this monster movie where a Godzilla type creature causes mayhem and destruction in New York....again. Shot in the ''found footage'' style it follows a group of friends who are caught in the midst of the monster attack. So begins a series of illogical events where no matter how much their lives are in danger, they won't forget about the bloody camera. Where a normal person would be running for safety, their primary concern is all centered around the camera. This group of friends were annoying and unlikable in the first place but as they stubble through the film, you end up despising them and don't really care if they all got flattened by a big monster foot. Like all of JJ Abrams let downs, they have a great marketing campaign that grabs your interest but the final product is just a cliche ridden, forgettable pile of mess that is everything that is wrong with the current Hollywood machine.

54. Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi (1983)

star-wars-episode-6-return-of-the-jedi-1-1600 Ssssshhhh...we're not allowed to say that this film sucked but what the hell. The decline of Star Wars started here. Blinded by MERCHANDISE SALES, George Lucas made sure that all creative decisions didn't affect SALES OF TOYS which made him far more money that the box office did. But who can blame him? He had a ranch to pay for. Everything that would have given the film more drama was binned including the death of Han Solo and we were given that crappy happy ending, to encourage TOY SALES!!! Incoherent story telling, ropey special effects and the fight scene that everyone hates where a bunch of primitive Ewoks defeat a army of Stormtroopers. And Ewoks are one of the biggest reasons this film sucks, too cuddly to take seriously and obviously written in to SELL MORE TOYS, the Ewoks were hated by anyone with a brain cell and over the age of five. Episode VI hasn't aged well and Lucas's tinkering has only made it worse. It also might be down to that once you remove your childhood rose-tinted glasses, none of the Star Wars films are actually that good to begin with.

53. Men In Black II (2002)

Men-In-Black-2 The first Men In Black film was a huge hit with audiences and critics. Funny and original, it was one of the best films of the 1990s. So the highly anticipated sequel was greeted with open arms in 2002 but sadly it wasn't anywhere as good as the first film. Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith reprised their roles and were the only good thing in this dud of movie. Trying to capture the fun of the first film, they were wide of the mark with a very unfunny script and a very boring story. Watch it now and even the special effects look dated but at least it was slightly better than Men In Black III.
