11 Actors Who Survived Career Suicide Twice

6. Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe was poised to become the biggest star out of the brat pack €“ thanks to About Last Night and St. Elmo€™s Fire - but that was undone when a sex tape featuring him and a teenage girl leaked out. Lowe€™s chances of becoming a leading man quickly dried up, and he spent over a decade in supporting roles and straight to video movies. His acclaimed role in The West Wing brought him back to people€™s attention, and he earned Emmy and Golden Globe nods for his work. He fell out with the network producing the show over how his character was being developed; and shocked everyone by quitting in 2003. For a few years this appeared to be a terrible decision, with most of his follow-up projects vanishing without a trace. A guest role in TV series Brothers & Sisters blossomed into a leading role, and after that he became beloved for his part in Parks And Recreation; he also received acclaim for a supporting role in Soderburgh's Behind The Candelabra.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
