11. Iron Man's Sacrifice

Endgame of course concludes with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) making the ultimate sacrifice, snapping his Infinity Gauntlet-wearing fingers and defeating Thanos (Josh Brolin) once and for all - but at the cost of his own life.

It was pretty reasonable to expect that Stark's death would cause a major ripple effect across the MCU, and that was just recently confirmed with the release of the new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer.

The trailer makes it clear that a) the world has elevated Iron Man to a level of deification for saving the universe, and b) he's left a colossal heroic void in his wake. Much of the trailer focuses on people hoping that Spidey (Tom Holland) will become the new Iron Man, and if not him, then Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal).

Though it's likely that Far From Home will end with the web-slinger learning to be the first him rather than the next Iron Man, fans shouldn't expect this thread to be neatly tied off after one movie.

We're sure to see Iron Man imagery frequently invoked throughout the MCU for years, effectively keeping Tony alive in spirit, and ensuring the gravity of his sacrifice isn't quickly forgotten.
