11 Bonkers Theories About 2019’s Movies That Surely Can’t Be True
9. It's Secretly Shyamalan's Avengers - Glass
It's already been heavily rumoured that Sarah Paulson's psychiatrist Dr. Staple is most likely Glass' secret villain, but this theory goes a tad further, by suggesting that Staple's heel-turn is in the service of making Glass M. Night Shyamalan's own low-budget version of The Avengers.
Staple's villainy will reluctantly unite Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson), Kevin Wendell Crumb aka The Horde (James McAvoy) and David Dunn (Bruce Willis) against her, revealing superhumans to the world in the process and giving Glass the real-life comic book story he always wanted.
The theory further suggests that the marketing is being intentionally manipulative, and that the supposed "final battle" between The Horde and Dunn is actually near the beginning of the movie and leads to them being locked in the asylum in the first place.
It makes a certain amount of sense and fits with the general feeling that the trailers so far are laying out a suspiciously simplistic plot, but at the same time, this is a $20 million movie, so its ambitions likely aren't going to be all that high.
