11 Comic Book Origins That Were Very Different In The Movies
6. Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
While the comics Guardians of the Galaxy have all the same banter of their MCU counterparts, their whimsical beginnings - meeting as enemies and then becoming allies in prison - are completely absent in the source material.
Instead, the team features an equally questionable formation, where Star-Lord masterfully recruits each and everyone one of them, using his tact, wit, and the mind control powers of Mantis, causing them all to quit when they learn they were convinced to join by having their minds tampered with.
Interestingly, the comic also has Adam Warlock as one of the founding members of the Guardians, which naturally was something that had to be changed in the film edition, in order to avoid introducing the incredibly powerful character as a member of the MCU's comic relief squad.
With the comic series having become increasingly similar to its film equivalent as a result of its box office popularity, it's strange to think that the two initially varied pretty massively in tone and content when the film first came out.
