11 Dumbest Things In The Worst Summer Movie Season Ever
7. The Bellas Undeservedly Beat Das Sound Machine - Pitch Perfect 2
Everybody going to see this movie knows that the Bellas will win their final showdown against the superb German a capella team Das Sound Machine, but couldn't the filmmakers have put a little more effort into convincing the audience that they actually deserved it? After DSM blew the roof off the house with a medley of "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" and "All I Do Is Win", the Bellas delivered a relatively mild medley featuring "Run The World (Girls)", "Where Them Girls At" and Emily's (Hailee Steinfeld) original song "Flashlight", which brings down the house and wins them the World Championship. The filmmakers vastly over-estimated how impactful Emily's relatively generic song was, while DSM's performance was too good to boot: the Bellas either needed something more memorable and jaw-dropping, or DSM's routine should've been toned down somewhat. Or better yet, have the Bellas lose because, hey, not everything in life about is about winning, yeah? When the inevitable third film happens, the Bellas need to step their game up big time. A capella may not be serious business to most, but the limp final showdown here is a major mark against an otherwise pretty decent sequel.
