9. Resignation
Andy, it's not looking good for you. Oh no: a darkened room, that sexually aggressive inmate, an attack from behind: it's all going wrong already. Apparently this abuse goes on for two years, according to Red's narration. Jesus. Who knew that those 'dropping soap in the shower' rumours were true? Andy's calm demeanour hides the fact that he's being constantly abused, and makes audiences accept it as prison life, because that's what he does. While it doesn't make the scenes with Bogg's any less brutal or heartbreaking, if Andy's still ok, we're ok.
