11 Emotional Stages Of Watching The Shawshank Redemption

6. Excitement

HOORAY, THE BOOKS CAME! FINALLY. The long awaited books arrive from the state libraries: and Andy can begin to build his Shawshank library as desired. One of the highest points of the film, it's impossible not to feel his excitement at the books and records in front of him. Why is it so exciting? It's because we're so involved now, in the characters, in the survival of all the inmates, in the daily running of Shawshank: the film is so well done it's like we're there alongside them all. We want them to have the books; we want Andy's constant attempts to do one great thing for everyone to succeed. Blame it on the cinematogrophy, or just admit that you want the best for all these criminals: the books arriving and the consequent building of the library evoke true happiness for all.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
