Michael Biehn became iconic in the role of Aliens soft-spoken marine Hicks, but he was a last-minute addition to the cast. Actor James Remar was originally cast in the part and worked on it for a couple of weeks, filming the scene where the marines enter the alien nest. He was apparently a little wild during filming; at one point he blew a hole into the wall of a set, though no one could figure out how he got live ammunition to do it. Then one morning he was gone, with no explanation given to the other actors. Biehn was quickly flown in, Hicks' scenes were reshot and everyone moved on. Why He Was Fired: The exact reason was kept quiet for years, with everything from schedule conflicts to family troubles being mentioned. It wasnt until 25 years later the actor stated the real reason; he was arrested for possessing drugs during the shoot. He had a bad drug habit at the time, so when he was arrested the production agreed to quietly replace him and not comment on his arrest. Remar went on to have a good career as a character actor, appearing in the likes of Dexter and Django Unchained.
