11 Famous Musicians Who Made Much Better Actors

3. Chris Isaak

For a guy that has put out a lot of albums in his career, Chris Isaak has effectively remained a one-hit wonder in the eyes of most music fans. Wicked Game is a great song, and anyone that disagrees wants their ears syringed. David Lynch knew it - that's why he placed it prominently on the soundtrack of the Palme D'or-winning Wild At Heart. It's also why Lynch cast him as Special Agent Chester Desmond in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. There aren't many braver casting decisions than this. Lynch was creating a prequel (rather than an oft-requested sequel) to a TV series that many people had lost interest in (due to its meandering second season), with a plot and style that railed against those of the original show. Controversial enough, but the lead actor from the series, Kyle MacLachlan, had also confirmed that he would only have a minor role in FWWM. Lynch effectively "replaced" his parts with a new character, played by Chris Isaak. The film is an underrated masterpiece, even if it was panned at the time, and Isaak's performance is one of its hidden gems. He plays an arrogant, smarmy mirror of MacLachlan's loveable Agent Dale Cooper, and his chemistry with Kiefer Sutherland, David Lynch and Harry Dean Stanton is great to watch. Isaak actually hasn't acted much since (perhaps because of the backlash against FWWM), but he really should have. He's got the ability to do so.
