Bombastic, overblown, pretentious... Meat Loaf's big budget, high concept rock operas have garnered him an audience with prog nerds everywhere. Everyone has whistled along to Paradise By The Dashboard Light once or twice, but they've also all cringed whenever I'd Do Anything For Love has shown up on their local soft rock radio channel for the 47th time that day. Meat Loaf has made a killing as a singer, so he's unlikely to ever change his career, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't have been better suited to acting. Appearances in Fight Club, House, Monk and, most famously, The Rocky Horror Picture Show were marked by some pretty enjoyable (if slightly campy) acting. His star turns in many of his music videos have also been fairly decent, even if they're effectively silent roles. Given that he already has the ridiculous theatricality to create hideously over-the-top operatic rock songs, it goes without saying that he could at least work a decent career in pantomime.
