9. IG-88's Fate
The Empire Strikes Back features an incredibly well-told story that, unfortunately, flew over the heads of just about everyone.
As we all know, Darth Vader rounded up a group of some of the deadliest bounty hunters in the galaxy and sent them on a mission to hunt down the Millennium Falcon to retrieve Han Solo & company. Among these bounty hunters were the humanoid lizard, Bossk, the heavily wrapped up Dengar, and the man who eventually completed the mission, Boba Fett. The droid standing among them, however, was also a bounty hunter named IG-88.
This assassin droid attempted to complete the bounty just as the others did, and specifically followed Boba all the way to Cloud City in Bespin. While Boba would succeed and eventually make his way onto other projects, IG-88 wouldn't be so lucky. His fate was made pretty clear in the scene where Chewbacca puts C-3PO back together in the scrap room.
That's right, over in the background lies IG-88 for the rest of... well, that scene. And probably eternity. At least he gave that bounty the good old college try.
