11 Hilariously Bad Death Scenes In Otherwise Awesome Movies

9. Darwin (Edi Gathegi) - X-Men: First Class

The Scene: Supervillain Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) proposes that the young mutants join his side, but when Darwin (Gathegi) responds by attacking him, Shaw absorbs Havoc's (Lucas Till) energy blast and releases it inside Darwin, killing him despite his attempts to adapt.

Why It's Hilariously Bad: So, let's get this straight. First Class introduced a mutant with an awesome super-power (to adapt to his environment), a black superhero no less (who are in rather short supply)...and then killed him off in the movie's first half in totally unspectacular fashion. "Here, swallow this energy ball."

Plus, it's hard not to giggle at Shaw's monologue moments earlier, where he talks about slavery and then stares with creepy, lingering intent at Darwin.

While the idea here is to show just how dominant Shaw can be (by wrecking a powerful mutant in record time), it ultimately felt like a huge waste of a potentially brilliant character and had fans the world over super-p***ed.
