3. The Bates Motel - Psycho
When the most pleasant employee at your motel is the corpse in your basement, you know you have problems.
If you are an attractive young woman, DO NOT stay at The Bates Motel, don't even hover in the car park. Mother is not going to like it. You see, The Bates Motel is run by Norman Bates, a psychotic mamma's boy with a crush on pretty much any girl he meets. But let's rewind.
Years before The Bates Motel became a murderous nightmare of a motel, it was run by Norman's mother Norma. Norma was a strict woman with an unhealthy love for her son, a love so unhealthy that it drove the son to insanity. This love backfired on Norma when she decided to take in a suitor. Her burgeoning love made Norman jealous and drove him to murder. But unable to be apart from his mother, he steals and mummifies her corpse and develops a personality within himself that is, unbelievably, his mother.
These two personalities struggle to exist within one body, and any time a young woman frequents the motel Norman gets a little excited, while Norma gets enraged. Norma wants to keep her son pure, so takes over the body and murders anyone that tickles her son's fancy, as healthy mothers do.
These two landlords really need to sort out their difference if they want to run a successful b&b.
