Proving that Hollywood will indeed try to make a movie out of anything, the infamous McDonald's Monopoly game fraud scandal is being made into a film, with Ben Affleck set to direct while his pal Matt Damon will star.

The scam saw fraudsters score over $24 million from the game between 1995 and 2000, and in fairness, it's a pretty damn fascinating story.

It's still hilarious to see world-class talents like Affleck and Damon circling a movie adaptation of a Daily Beast article, but with the right treatment, it's easy to see how this could be a riotous, even awards-worthy absurdist comedy.

Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese will pen the script, so if nothing else it should boast a sure manic energy and lean into its inherent ridiculousness.
