Now that technology has caught up to the kinds of ideas that artists and writers have been putting down on paper for almost a century, filmmakers have finally been given the freedom to create comic book movies that don't look and feel totally ridiculous: with the possibilities allowed to them through a combination of CGI and colossal budgets, the comic book movie reigns supreme. As a society of movie-goers, we can't get enough of them. It hasn't always been that way, though. There was once a time when filmmakers struggled to realise the extent of their imaginations, restricted by a lack of technology and and a lack of audience demand.
