5. Justice League of America (1997)

Some movies seem purposely designed to provoke as much hatred and ridicule as possible, which is apparently what the filmmakers behind this cruel take on the Justice League of America set out to do. From the results, I can't see how they were shooting for anything else. Directed by Felix Enriquez Alcala, who later went on to direct a single episode of
Breaking Bad (phwoar!), here's a comic book adaptation that just decided to exist in a category unto itself. I can't even bring myself to name that category. That would be an insult to categories in general. Everybody who decided to act in this 82 minute TV movie looks ridiculous: the costumes are Halloween quality at best, and the script... my God. One reviewer said that this was the movie version of
Friends - that probably doesn't make much sense if you haven't seen it, but c'mon, that really makes you want to see it, right? That comment likely stems from the fact that our "superheroes" all live in a house together and the movie is frequently implemented with talking heads in which they reflect on the most mundane things ever conceived. The bad guy here is called The Weatherman (seriously), and he's demanding, uh, $20 million dollars, which doesn't seem like much to me - not supervillain standard demands, anyway. Then again, it was probably about 20 times the budget of this "movie," so it must've seemed like a lot to the cast and crew.
