11 Major VFX Errors You Won't Believe Were Missed

5. Sub Keying - Jaws 3D

The original 1975 Jaws is a masterpiece in cinema and really, one of those films that should’ve been left alone, but when it comes to Hollywood, just like a shark if they smell blood in the water they’ll want more.

So after Jaws 2 failed to recapture the lightning in the bottle of the first, the next logical step was to take the sharks to a third dimension, clearly. The god awful early 3D in this movie is actually somewhat forgivable, because it's of its time, but there is an error here that is unforgivable, even by those standards.

At one point, as the yellow submarine driven by the lead characters turns in the deep, you can see where part of the underwater vehicle's front section is keyed away, causing it to become one with the deep. Now anyone in their bedroom with a copy of Premiere Pro (other editing software IS available) can achieve this with ease and careful keyframe work so it's really unforgivable.

Then again, this is hardly the biggest issue with Jaws 3-D.
