11 Marvel Cinematic Universe Films That Should Appear Beyond Phase 3

3. The Defenders

Luke Cage On November the 6th of last year, Disney and Marvel announced that a Defenders miniseries will air on Netflix from 2015 after initially introducing four superhero members in four separate series. The three entertainment giants will combine to create a ground-breaking endeavour. Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones will each get their own run before they form a street-level adaptation of the superhero team (which has, in fact, included the likes of Hulk, Doctor Strange, Namor and the Silver Surfer in the comic books) as a unique extension to the Marvel cinematic universe. Ideally, if all of the series are a success, this should culminate in an epic street level movie in which the quartet come together to face a popular villain - or, even better, a villainous team. Obviously, the threat they faced would have to be on a smaller scale than those faced by the Avengers, but that's not to say it wouldn't be just as interesting (look at Batman for inspiration and examples in that regard). With S.H.I.E.L.D as their support (like the Avengers), the movie could include popular characters like Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson and Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill to give it some more Hollywood muscle and, while it would probably never obtain the same success as the Avengers movies, it could certainly be a worthwhile endeavour to entertain those who prefer their heroes more grounded.
