11 Marvel Movies That Almost Happened

1. Black Panther With Wesley Snipes

Wesley Snipes - who of course became another Marvel hero, Blade, in very iconic fashion - was long linked to the role of Black Panther before that ever happened. Snipes, who had himself put forward script ideas for a potential T'Challa movie, was tied to the project as far back as 1992 in an adaptation that Columbia Pictures was putting together. The film was said to be in development for many years - and Stan Lee himself was said to be very fond of the script they had - but production simply never happened. Regarding the potential movie, at the time, Snipes said this:
We have a wide-open field for comic book characters on the big screen and we've yet to have a major black comic book hero on the screen. Especially the Black Panther, which is such a rich, interesting life. It's a dream come true to originate something that nobody's ever seen before.
He went on to be Blade, but was again linked with the role of Black Panther in 2003 - and it was said to be between Blade: Trinity and a Black Panther movie regarding what was going to be made - but Blade: Trinity happened. Further links continued even after that - and he's still even linked with the role today at the age of 52 - but his time has passed. Black Panther will eventually join the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe, we're sure of that, but it certainly won't be Wesley Snipes in the titular role.
