11 Movie Posters That Really Know How To Sell A Film

3. Jaws

Jaws

Great white sharks are terrifying. Have you ever seen footage of one leaping up from the water to devour its prey? It makes me cold just thinking about it. Which of course, is why Steven Speilberg tapped into this fear when he made Jaws.

And this poster is terrifying. It's the size of the thing. It is gargantuan! Its mouth is bigger than the hapless swimmer it is about to devour. Perhaps it might be a little disproportionate to the Jaws we saw on film (only just though) but it serves its purpose. Imagine yourself swimming in the sea with that beast ascending towards you? It sells the terror. It sells a huge underwater beast of doom! And note the use of terrifying twice in the top line...just in case you didn't find this shark terrifying enough.

If you didn't shiver at the thought of it, than the poster hasn't done its job. In my opinion you know you are going to be scared to go into the water the minute you look at this poster.
