11 Movie Posters That Really Know How To Sell A Film

4. Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan

Star Trek 2 The Wrath Of Khan Visually, Star Trek: The Motion Picture looked stunning. The trouble is with the onus of effects and transporting the crew to the big screen...they kind of forgot to add a story and as a result it was a bit dull. But this poster, like the film itself, tells us that we are in for an thrilling ride with the sequel. It's very evocative of the great Star Wars movie posters. Our heroes in action poses, our favourite ship in action, the villain dominating everything from above. Khan is all powerful in this poster, controlling the the focus of the viewer on him. Backed by the tag line 'At the end of the universe lies the beginning of vengeance' his stance speaks volumes of what is about to come. It doesn't matter however if you had never seen that episode (I hadn't when I first saw the film) because this poster tells you everything you need to know. This poster sells us an exciting, personal, mysterious Star Trek Movie that was everything its predecessor wasn't. You can immediately tell we're not going to spend 10,198,756 hours travelling through a nebula. (Well, there would be a nebula towards the end of the film and that would be one of the most exciting, intense sequences in the entire film) Most of all it tells that audience that Kirk has a new adversary. And what an impact he would make...
