11 Movie Predictions You Can Take To The Bank

7. Leonardo DiCaprio Will Finally Get His Oscar

Paramount PicturesParamount PicturesEvery year during Oscar season the internet becomes awash with Leonardo DiCaprio-related memes, with the actor's continued failure to land that elusive Academy Award now one of the most well-established running jokes on the web. As both one of the biggest movie stars in the world and a well-deserved reputation as one of the most gifted actors of his generation, it is now a question of when he finally scoops the big one rather than if. It is a quest that dates back 20 years to his first nomination for Best Supporting Actor for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, with further nominations for Blood Diamond and The Aviator also failing to yield success. His memorable supporting turn in Django Unchained was overlooked entirely, while this year's ceremony saw DiCaprio land two nods thanks to his dual role as star and producer of The Wolf of Wall Street. Even though his turn as Jordan Belfort was the best of his career to date, the 39 year-old was ultimately thwarted by the McConnaissance. Legendary actors Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton both failed to win an Academy Award after eight and seven nominations respectively, but Leonardo DiCaprio will not suffer a similar fate. It would be a cruel and ironic twist of fate if the actor was rewarded for his role as producer rather than his efforts in front of the camera, but one day DiCaprio will definitely claim his elusive Academy Award to occupy the rarefied air shared by the likes of Cher, Al Gore and Three Six Mafia.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
