11 Movie Scenes Only Shot For The Trailer

1. Black Christmas (2006)

Basically, a whole lot of this

The promotions for Rogue One, Justice League, and Amazing Spider-Man 2 are infamous for including trailer-only shots. However, 2006's Black Christmas might have the most deceptive film trailer ever.

During production, the studio execs informed the director, Glen Morgan, they were unhappy with the script, which led to last-minute rewrites and reshoots.

But it wasn't enough. Worried the remake would bomb, the powers-that-be ordered various eye-grabbing scenes to be shot for tv spots and trailers, having no intention of putting them in the movie.

Halfway through Black Christmas, Lacey Chabert's character, Dana, is stabbed to death by the killer. Believing this execution was too generic, the studio had a trailer-only shot of Dana dying after being sucked into a tinsel-decorated thresher.

There were many other trailer-only shots, including a woman trapped under a frozen pond, Billy singing an insidious couplet, and Melissa yelling "Merry £%&! Christmas" while wielding a shotgun. To make Black Christmas more appealing, the producers shamelessly shoved in several shots of model, Jillian Murray, even though she isn't in the movie!

Because this extra content was done without the director's knowledge or consent, it's no surprise he condemned this abominable film.
