And now we come to the big one: it was rumoured before release that Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio may adapt the Death of Superman storyline given that he fights Doomsday at the end of the movie, and that's exactly what happened. Indeed, Superman sacrifices himself to kill Doomsday with the Kryptonite spear, leading to a funeral sequence and the final reveal that, of course, Superman isn't staying dead. Though it was a fairly redundant part of the movie as even the most casual fans knew he'd be back, it was still interesting and surprising to see Superman's demise play out on screen.
