11 Movies Which Got Geography Completely Wrong

2. Deep Impact

A comet is about to impact off the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. Journalist Jenny Lerner, who uncovered the government€™s attempts to keep the knowledge secret, is fortunate enough to be selected to join the Ark, an underground shelter in Missouri. However, two hours before impact, she gives up her seat on the escape helicopter that would take her away from Washington, D.C. to a co-worker and her young daughter. She then goes to Cape Cod to join her father as he waits on the shoreline, ready to embrace death when the giant tsunami caused by the comet arrives on shore, destroying everything in its path.
The journey from Washington DC to Cape Cod would take nearly eight hours, and that€™s with roads that aren't jammed with desperate people trying to get to higher ground. Even flying from Washington to the Cape would be nearly three. She could have watched the impact from her window seat, assuming that her flight survived the massive turbulence that the comet would leave in its wake.
