6. The Mist
Although not exactly one of the most popular movies of recent times, The Mist is - in my humble opinion - one of the best horror movies this side of the year 2000 (a very controversial view, I'm sure) and I think it would make for a great theme park attraction (albeit an incredibly frightening one). The queuing area could simply be a set of a normal street in an ordinary town, or in a series of small shops - the calm before the storm, so to speak - and then, for the actual main attraction, the guests could be led in to a mocked-up large supermarket (like in the movie) where a public address system informs them that they must stay inside due to a strange phenomena approaching. At that point, the view from the window could become obscured by mist and creatures could be heard roaring and squawking out of sight. Perhaps a cast member (dressed as a supermarket worker) could be dragged away by a tentacle. A creature could then break in through a window, forcing guests outside where they must walk through the mist itself (which could simply be dried ice or created by a smoke machine) with various horrible occurrences to witness out of the blue as they walk. The limited vision element of such an experience could make it absolutely terrifying and, if it was executed correctly, it could be a hugely successful idea.
