11 Movies That Should Really Have Sucked (But Somehow Didn't)

9. Galaxy Quest (1999)

Galaxy Quest I was genuinely put off of watching Galaxy Quest for a long, long time because - having seen that Tim Allen was in it, the poster and a few clips - I had branded it as a movie of low quality without actually having seen it. For some reason, I decided to lump it in with other lackluster '90s space efforts like Lost in Space, and left it at that. Let my ignorance by a lesson to all who set out to judge a movie without watching it: despite its ridiculous plot and the fact that it looks terrible on paper, Galaxy Quest is a great movie. Quite simply, this is a parody of all things Star Trek, but you don't need to be a Trekkie to enjoy what the writers have done here: this is a science-fiction comedy made entirely for sci-fi nerds. It also stars Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver, which is about as good an excuse as there is to watch any movie.
