11 Movies That Were Far Better Than They Had Any Right To Be

Rubber3Why It Had No Right To Be Any Good: Movie About A Sentient Tire Here's a fairy recent flick that divided audiences and critics alike upon first release, but isn't that still pretty impressive, given that it's about a freakin' sentient tire that goes around murdering people? I mean, the fact that this genuinely interesting and occasionally brilliant deconstruction wasn't universally panned whilst still clinging to a premise as, uh, dumb-sounding as that one... well, it's pretty darn incredible, to be totally honest. Director Quentin Dupieux set out to create a movie that attempts to show us just how absurd the idea certain movie genres - namely horror and slasher flicks - really are. So whereas his movie isn't always successful (although he does make us believe in a sentient tire, so that's an achievement right there), it's one that should be appreciated just for the fact that it exists, and in existing it's actually not terrible. I repeat: movie about a tire.
