28 Days Later stole the limelight when it comes to fast zombies, but Return Of The Living Dead got there first. It also gave the world the Tarman zombie, the naked punk zombie and the immortal line: "Send more cops." The idea behind the film is that the events of Night Of The Living Dead really happened, and two bumbling factory workers accidently unleash a fresh wave of brain eating zombies. These ones can talk, run and think, so the survivors have to be extra smart to stay alive. Their attempts to solve the problem always make it worst though, with the zombies constantly growing in number. They finally manage to call the military for help, with rescue looking imminent. Instead the military just nuke the city, wiping out the zombies alongside the luckless survivors in one fell swoop. Even that doesnt solve the problem, as the ending hints that the rain will help spread the infection even further. The sequel ignored this setup, which is ironic; everyone ignored the sequel too.
