2. Ei8ht: Somerset Is Psychic
It's A Sequel To... Se7en (1995) It's a credit to Hollywood's perseverance, at least, that they'll try to craft a sequel to pretty much any movie, even if the movie in question is the least likely candidate in the history of motion pictures. So you might be shocked to learn that once upon a time, there was something resembling a follow-up to David Fincher's dark masterpiece
Se7en in the works. That notion alone its nuts, but it's overshadowed by what has to be the most bizarre plot device ever. Somerset, the character played by Morgan Freeman in the original, is suddenly psychic in this one. Yes, forget whatever happened in the first movie, 'cause in the sequel, Somerset is going to be
psychic. That's not a joke - somebody was legitimately asked to rewrite a spec script called
Solace to feature "Freeman's character from
Se7en." For a while this actually looked to be getting made, until David Fincher said he'd rather stub cigarettes into his eyeballs than make it.
