11 People Who Got Paid Insane Money For NOT Making A Movie

1. Tim Burton - Superman Lives

Much has been made of Tim Burton€™s aborted movies Superman Lives, which would have since Nic Cage don the Man Of Steel outfit. Pre-production artwork and costume designs make it look like it either would have been a campy mess, or one of the most original superhero movies ever made; or maybe even a mix of both. We€™ll never know though, since Warner Bros. suffered a crisis of faith and pulled the plug on the project. Burton was heartbroken over this outcome, since he€™d worked on the movie for over a year and was excited to finally get filming. The silver lining to the whole debacle was that he€™d signed a pay or play deal on it, meaning he got paid his director€™s fee of $5 million despite the movie being cancelled. Burton went on to purge himself of the experience by directing Sleepy Hollow, and would later talk about his plans for the movie on the excellent documentary TheDeath Of Superman Lives: What Happened? What do you think of the salaries these filmmakers made for not working on a movie? Share your thoughts in the comments thread.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
