11 Perfect Casting Choices That Made Comic Book Movies

2. Christopher Reeve As Superman

Christopher Reeve was the original Hollywood superhero and his portrayal of Clark Kent AKA Superman in the Superman quadrilogy from 1978 to 1987 is still as iconic as any Hollywood performance in history. It is certainly still the most iconic portrayal of a superhero in comic book movie history, that is for certain. It was Reeve's first starring role in a movie and he dedicated himself to it entirely. At first, he didn't impress the casting people behind the film, but he bulked up specifically for it, was eventually cast and the rest is history. His innocent portrayal of Clark Kent was undoubtedly the most impressive part of his performance. While portraying the formidable and albeit pure and morally sound Superman he had huge screen presence, which was enhanced by his boyish good looks, but the ability to transform back to the naive, clumsy and apparently vulnerable mild-mannered Daily Planet worker was nothing short of fantastic. Although the films eventually became silly, that was through no fault of Reeve's own. He was always as great as the titular hero as he could possibly be, given the material at hand.
