5. Sylvester Stallone As Cable
Sylvester Stallone is a highly talented Hollywood personality, and a real renaissance man of the industry, with credits as director, a writer, a producer, and an actor. He is, despite his diversity, and high-profile successes in smarter roles like Copland, best known for having rippling muscles under his shirt and carrying big heavy guns and perpetuating high enemy death tolls. The highly cerebral roles are few and far between for Sly, despite the fact that we all know that he has depth and intelligence. Similarly there's Cable from the X-Men mythos. Cable is a brilliant strategist with an unmatched psychic and telekinetic mutant power, however, he is most known for his metal arm and the incredible cache of future guns he keeps strapped to his body. In another similarity, while Stallone has the limitation of being partially paralyzed in his face, Cable has the limitation of having the techno-organic virus that seeks to turn his entire body into metal: both actor and character are forced to overcome potentially crippling limitations (including age for Stallone) to succeed, and both prevail. Since Cable is bound to be about the toughest guy in his film - and a nice face-off with Wolverine wouldn't be uncalled for to establish bragging rights - this is a square jawed, tough old-man match made in heaven. With an X-Men: Apocalypse movie on the slate the timing and casting would be just right, but there doesn't appear to be any buzz about it at all.
