4. Benedict Cumberbatch As The Vision, Brainiac, Or Really Any Oblong Headed Android

For many, Benedict Cumberbatch seems to have come from nowhere: in the past few years he's been in blockbuster films such as Star Trek: Into Darkness and 12 Years a Slave, along with being cast in a highly successful television version of Sherlock Holmes. His success has been partly down to his obvious acting ability, but there's no avoiding the fact that Cumberbatch is a strange looking fellow: he's got a skinny, oval head, sharp features, and recessed eyes, which makes him a prime candidate to be cast as an extra-terrestrial or extra-human character in movies. Let's take Brainiac for instance: the sentient computer life-form that was originally designed to handle the administrative functions of the planet Krypton. As the planet was about to be destroyed by a terrible, natural MacGuffin, Brainiac got a taste of being the final receptacle of a world's total culture and knowledge makes a habit of it. Comparing the two, we can note the large recessed eyes, ovular heads, cold and calculating visages, and chins that blend seamlessly into their necks. If Cumberbatch had a bad case of argyria and an aluminum turtleneck he'd be a dead ringer for Brainiac. In fact, it might not be a bad idea to get this going quickly as Man Of Steel 2 doesn't
quite have enough characters in it yet. Speaking of big comic book movie crossovers, The Vision is a mainstay of Marvel's Mightiest Heroes: The Avengers. Again we've got the sharp features, the ovular head and the blending chin/neck - just switch out the argyria for severe rosacea. The Vision is an interesting and complicated character who can always be read as cold and intelligent, which also come off as Cumberbatch's main draws, and it's probably fair to say that Cumberbatch would be ideal for any alien or android role.
